So here I am, at the time when everyone around is sleeping and thanks to insomnia I am up and scripting this post.
Its been one of the most impactful evenings in 2011, not just because of a lavish dinner along the fine scotch served in one of the best hotels in the city BUT me sharing space or rather getting a chance to interact with a pioneerin the industry where I want to have my name highlighted in a Classic and a bigger font size.
At times most of us have a feeling that a person like a chairman of a Fortune 500 company would be a serious, no nonsense individual with a strong focus flaunting his Platinum credit card where required. But this individual is also a human who started his/her career or life from a point which could not have been that favourable in his life. He/she would have had his share of circumstances, troubles, hurdles and much more. Yet they managed to reach where they are, at a place where everyone looks upon them as an inspiration.
The experience I want to share with myself is with a gentleman called Rajendra S. Pawar, Chairman, NIIT one of my my former employers. Never thought I would get a chance to discuss my strategies with this pioneer.
Once got a chance to greet Mr. Pawar on February 10 at NASSCOM ILF where I introduced myself and got a response saying that he would like to sit with me sometime. So today (rather yesterday), while Mr. Pawar was washing his hands in the loo, banged into him and said “You had promised to sit with me sometime”. The person looked at me with astonishment and said oaky, will catch you inside. Had this unusual feeling, the way celebrities shoo a common man away giving him/her some nonsense as a excuse to move away.
Probably after three drinks down, the gentleman comes on to my table and says … what do we wanna discuss. And hey … there was this opportunity, so there I started, stammering and talking big words like strategy somehow realizing that the person next to me understands that I am trying to talk big.
Mr. Pawar was patient listening to my inputs (strategy as I say) and suggested an action plan in 3 minutes which was quick, easy to understand and made lot of sense. His down to earth attitude, passion for singing and acknowledging the presence of every individual present left a serious impact.
Life is like a road where we decide the route we want to follow and the attitude we want to carry in our journey. With this note, let me try and make the best of the present. Looking forward to much more opportunities like these.
